A good mathematics qualification can fast-track you to a well-paid, interesting and rewarding career. Mathematics will help you to improve your logic and analytical skills and will develop an ability to think creatively and strategically - skills which enhance and support A Level subjects such as Biology. Chemistry, Physics, Business, Economics, Geography and Psychology. You will also note from UCAS that Mathematics is one of the more commonly asked for subjects when applying for your degree choice. What will I study? The areas studied during the two-year course are as follows: PURE 1 Algebra and functions, coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane, trigonometry, vectors in 2D, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration PURE 2 Proof, algebra, partial fractions and functions, sequences and series, parametric equations, trigonometry, vectors in 3D, differentiation, integration, numerical methods MECHANICS AND STATISTICS Statistical sampling, data presentation and interpretation, probability, the normal distribution, regression and correlation, statistical distributions, hypothesis testing, kinematics, forces and Newton's laws, moments, the motion of projectiles
