Assessment

Assessment is solely by examination. The World of the Hero (40%) 2 hrs 20 minutes An in-depth study of both Homer’s Iliad and Virgil’s Aeneid, looking at the nature of both works, themes such as heroism and the values of Homeric society, and the literary devices of Epic poetry. The Imperial Image (30%) 1 hr 45 minutes A study of the rise and success of the first Roman Emperor, Augustus, using a range of primary sources, with focus on the propaganda surrounding his rule.
