Course summary
BTEC Sport and Exercise Science is a great qualification that gives learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin sport and exercise science in a contextualised way to prepare them for further study or training at a higher level. The BTEC units provide opportunities during the teaching and learning phase to give students practice in developing employability skills. Throughout the course they will be tasked with developing and in some units will be assessed in these skills: • Cognitive and problem-solving skills e.g. where learners are required to undertake simulated activities and consultancies or clinical fitness testing • Intrapersonal skills: for example, client interviews and observations, presenting to groups through PowerPoint delivery and coaching. • Interpersonal skills: self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development In terms of the business world, the BTEC prepares pupils for further study in sports psychology, physiotherapy, sports and exercise science, coaching, management, business and leisure.
