Course summary

This highly creative and dynamic specification enables pupils to work creatively throughout the two-year course. It enables those who choose this course to demonstrate innovation and enterprise whilst considering their role as a responsible designer. The department focuses upon developing pupils’ intellectual curiosity about the design and manufacture of products and their impact on daily life and the wider world. At Cheltenham College we offer many extracurricular opportunities within the Fashion and Textiles department. We visit the Bath Fashion Museum to view historical costumes, directly linking with the theory taught within the specification. We also visit the Mulberry factory, where pupils can see real-life prototypes being developed, plotted on a CAM cutting machine and made on a factory line. There is also the opportunity to create leather goods, such as a bracelet or keyring, branded with the Mulberry logo.
