Assessment

Essay writing, based on serious reading of relevant texts, is the core skill which is developed in the course of studying Politics at A-level. The study of current developments in both the United Kingdom and the United States of America is also of central importance. Politics is a subject which is directly concerned with the contemporary world and extensive use of newspapers and political articles, as well as podcasts, blogs and TV programmes, is expected. The ability to form arguments based on the close analysis of texts, informed by serious engagement with current affairs, is fundamental to many careers. Politics A-level is, therefore, a sound basis on which to proceed towards university education and then on to the demands of a challenging career.
