Course summary
Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue or what, fundamentally, are quarks? If so you may wish to study Physics which helps us to understand the physical world around us. Some of the course leads directly from the GCSE but you will also be introduced to completely novel ideas such as Quantum Theory and Particle Physics. No longer will you view the atom as a simple arrangement of protons, neutrons and electrons but as a whole array of even smaller particles! The course aims to: • develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other. • develop and demonstrate a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods. • develop competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills. • develop interest and enthusiasm for the subject, including further study and careers associated with the subject. • understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues.
