Assessment

1. Technical Principles (30%) Candidates sit a two hour and 30 minute written examination, answering a mixture of short answer, multiple choice and extended response questions. Candidates will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding of designing and making principles, technical principles and specialist knowledge. 2. Designing and Making Principles (20%) This is a one-hour and 30-minute written paper. Section A of the paper focuses on a product analysis, whilst Section B tests the candidates’ knowledge and understanding of commercial manufacture. Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) (50%) Candidates undertake a substantial design and make project tasks and produce a final prototype. The context of the task will be determined by the pupil.
