Year 1 Component 1: An internally guided project based on a theme. 60% of AS-level. Component 2: An externally set assignment. Students choose one from a set of five questions. Following preparation time there is a period of 10 hours of supervised but unaided time to produce a finished outcome. 40% of AS-level. Year 2 Component 1: Personal Investigation. An internally guided practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. 60% of A-level. Component 2: An externally set assignment. Students choose one from a set of eight questions. Following preparation time they will have 15 hours of supervised but unaided time to produce a finished outcome. 40% of A-level.
