Course summary

French is a truly global language spoken by more than 300 million people in over 50 countries on every continent. French is both a working language and an official language of the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, NATO, the International Olympic Committee, the International Red Cross and international courts. It is also the international language of cooking, fashion, theatre, the visual arts, dance and architecture. Speaking French opens up opportunities to study at renowned French universities and business schools, ranked among the top higher education institutions in Europe and the world. The ability to speak French is an advantage on the international job market and will allow you to compete effectively in the global economy. Beyond education and employment, speaking French will help you develop your communication, critical and creative thinking skills. Core content includes learning about social issues and trends, political, historic and artistic culture, together with grammar. Study will also include literary texts and films such as No et moi by Delphine de Vigan and La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz. One-to-one support session with a native speaking tutor to practise speaking skills and study the themes using authentic materials. A variety of learning opportunities such as cultural trips, debating competitions and linguistic events.
