Assessment

There are three components for the English Literature A Level course: • Component 1: Drama and Poetry pre-1900 (Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the poetry of Christina Rossetti and one further drama text to be selected according to the group) (Exam: 40%). • Component 2: Close reading and comparative and contextual study from the chosen topic area - Dystopia (1984 by George Orwell and a further text to be selected according to the group) (Exam: 40%). • Component 3: Close reading OR re-creative writing piece with commentary and a comparative essay (texts selected according to the group) (Coursework: 20%).
