Economics
Entry Requirements
An aptitude for mathematics is essential, and a minimum of grade 8 at GCSE is required. Although you never dealt with complicated algebra in the A-level course, economic diagrams involve modelling relationships between variables on a set of axes, so you’ll need a good conceptual understanding of how relationships between variables can be represented graphically. Mathematics (and, in some unique cases, A level of Further Mathematics) is necessary to take the subject to a degree level. Proficiency in forming balanced arguments is also essential, and essay writing is a significant component of the course, so a grade 8 in English or a humanities subject is also required.
