Entry Requirements

Entry for external candidates at 16+ is conditional upon a candidate achieving a minimum of 5 GCSE grades 9 – 5 (or equivalent), including a minimum Grade 6 in the subjects proposed for study at A Level or can provide evidence that they would succeed in the given subject at A Level standard. You should choose to study Music if you enjoy playing, composing and listening to music. It is possible to study Music at A Level without having taken GCSE Music if you have a suitably advanced performance and theoretical background. Grade 5 theory and a practical standard equivalent (to a minimum of grade 6) would be expected by the start of Year 12. Girls taking Music will normally be confident performers, having music lessons on their instrument or voice, and be involved in musical activities in school.
