Course summary

A Level German gives learners the opportunity to develop and deepen their awareness and understanding of the language as well as increase their knowledge of the German speaking world through the study of the language in its cultural, literary and social context. The specification has been designed to be studied over two years. The suggestions below relating to content for year one and content for year two are based on the knowledge that the course will generally be taken over two years. Language work includes areas of study that are contemporary, age‐appropriate and engaging. These should inspire pupils to take part in German discussions. One of the most important aspects of this course is the opportunity to develop opinions and defend points of view in the target language.
