Entry Requirements

The assumption is that candidates taking Physics have achieved a Grade 7 or above in GCSE Combined Science or a minimum of Grade 7 in GCSE Physics and one other science. You will also need to be competent at mathematics although you do not need to be taking Maths in the Sixth Form. Grade 7 or above in GCSE maths is expected. Some areas covered in the course are developments of work studied at GCSE, but others are new. For example there are modules on recent developments in physics such as Particle Physics and Quantum Mechanics. You need to have a curiosity about the way the world works, and you must be prepared to think about the ways in which different areas of physics link together.
