Assessment

Paper 1 involves an essay question on Child Language Acquisition, alongside a question requiring you to apply the Language Framework to a range of unseen texts. Paper 2 tests your understanding of the Sociolinguistic modules studied: Language and Gender, Language and Identity, and Language and Occupation, alongside either an essay or article task on Language Change. Each paper makes up 40% of the overall A-level. You are also required to complete a non-examination assessment which comprises an independent investigation into a topic of your choice, plus an attached original writing piece.
