Assessment
Written papers will be restricted to testing the syllabus core content, but a variety of other materials and technologies such as ceramics, textiles, mechanisms and electronics can be incorporated into the coursework element to produce exciting projects. Products can range from fashionable items (jewellery/textile products) to functional engineered solutions and anything in between. Candidates will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design whilst enjoying opportunities to put their learning into practice by producing prototypes. Learning is extended beyond the classroom with the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art facilities in the UK and overseas.
