Assessment

1. Drama and Poetry Pre-1900 - 40% • Section A - Shakespeare (detailed analysis of a passage from a Shakespeare play). • Section B - Drama and Poetry pre1900 (essay comparing a pre-1900 poetry text with a play published before 1900). 2. Comparative and Contextual Study - 40% • Section A - A close analysis of an unseen passage from a text drawn from the topic area pupils have been studying. • Section B - A choice of one from three questions comparing two texts pupils have studied in relation to the set topic area. 3. Non-Examination Assessment (coursework) - 20% Pupils produce two essays, one a 1000-word close study of a passage from a modern novel and the other a 2000-word comparison of the presentation of an issue in two post-1900 texts.
