External assessment details – Higher Level (HL) Paper 1 – multiple-choice questions and data-based questions (2 hours) Paper 2 – short-answer and extended-response questions (2 hours and 30 minutes) Internal (individual) assessment: Duration: 10 hours; weighting: 20% The internal assessment consists of one task: the scientific investigation.This component is internally assessed by the teacher and externally moderated by the IB at the end of the course.
