Assessment

How is the course assessed? Paper 1: (40%) Listening, reading and translation Students will have to answer reading and listening comprehension tasks, working with authentic foreign language material. There are also translation tasks from English to French and French to English. Paper 2: (30%) Written response to works and translation from English to French. Students answer one question in French on a set text from a choice of two questions and one question in French on a set film from a choice of two questions. All questions will require a critical appreciation of the concepts and issues covered in the work and a critical and analytical response. The essays are approximately 300 words in length and are completed without access to the source material. Paper 3: (30%) Speaking The oral component involves a discussion of a sub-theme based on a stimulus card followed by a presentation and discussion of an individual research project.
