Assessment

Students study a challenging and evoking course following the AQA Specification Religious Studies. The course is split evenly over three areas of Philosophy, Ethics and Christian Theology and is assessed in two 3-hour exams at the end of Year 13. The Philosophy course at St Catherine’s is ideal for students who enjoy discussing and debating some of life’s big questions on the existence of God and the problem of evil, who enjoy sharing their personal views and who have a love of reading about historically great leaders of Faith and Philosophy. St Catherine’s also offers a Core RE course for all students in Years 12 and 13 where students focus on leadership in faith. They study a range of topics from Service to Religious Ethics. The girls are also encouraged to put their faith into action in the local area in a variety of ways, leading charity school events and volunteering in the local community and residential care homes.
