Course summary

Studying French at A level goes well beyond talking about your family and pets. By the end of their two-year course, the U6 students can express themselves confidently and spontaneously and debate topics such as immigration, young people's politics and the role of prisons. All in French! Pupils also study a book or play in French and analyse a French film by the renowned Nouvelle Vague director François Truffaut. Although the idea of studying literature in French sounds daunting students soon find that they have become immersed in the story and produce insightful and analytical essays. All in French! The oral exam allows them to research a Francophone topic that can be of cross-curricular interest and then discuss it with the examiner to present their findings and expound their knowledge. All in French! The Sixth Form also have the opportunity to go on a study trip to Nice and have individual conversation lessons with our French Language assistant. All fantastic opportunities to hone their language skills still further.
