History

Course summary

History is the study of human life. Therefore, as we are humans, it is the study of all human life, so the subject provides the context to our world; simply put, if you don’t understand History, you won’t understand the world around you! History provides the context for all other subjects, but aside from the excitement of learning how the world has come to be as it is, History will provide you with a range of skills. Chief amongst these is critical analysis. In almost every field of work you enter, you will need to process, understand, analyse and response to information from a range of sources; exactly what you will do in iGCSE History. It is a written subject, so you will learn how to plan, develop and write extended pieces of work, thinking on your feet and responding to a range of different prompts. Knowledge is important, but History will teach you what to do with it, hence why History is so useful in preparing you for life beyond education.
