Component 1 Weighting: 30 % Marks: 12 and 20 mark questions Length of paper: 2 hours and 15 minutes • Tectonic Processes and Hazards • Coastal Landscapes and Change and The Water Cycle and Water Insecurity • The Carbon Cycle and Energy Security Component 2 Weighting: 30 % Marks: 12 and 20 mark questions Length of paper: 2 hours and 15 minutes • Globalisation / Superpowers • Regenerating Places • Migration, Identity and Sovereignty Component 3 Weighting: 20 % Marks: 8, 18 and 24 mark questions Length of paper: 2 hours and 15 minutes Externally assessed written examination, comprising three sections which will all draw synoptically on knowledge and understanding from compulsory content drawn from different parts of the course. Non-exam assessment Weighting: 20% Marks: 70 The investigation report is internally assessed and externally moderated. The student will produce a written report of 3000–4000 words. In addition to the details given above, students will also undertake a compulsory field trip and will be issued with a reading list.
