Psychology
Course summary
Psychology involves the study of mental processes and behaviour in the context of real life experiences. This course is for those who have an enquiring mind, like to discuss and wish to gain an understanding of how humans (and non-humans) develop, socialise and interact with each other. Psychology is not just an academic subject, it’s a life-skill. Within the A Level, pupils will explore a variety of different applications and approaches to psychology including elements such as, social influence, memory, attachment and start to explore psychopathology questioning what is ‘abnormality’? In the Upper Sixth they will then look at topics such as gender, schizophrenia and forensic. Underpinning all these areas is research methodology, where we will look at how psychological research is carried out and interpreted.
