Course summary

New knowledge in areas such as genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, the environment, and marine science has profound effects on human society and the environment which we inhabit. The world moves quickly and to move with it and participate fully people need to be ‘in the know’. Studying biology gives you the skills and opportunities to advance human knowledge and understanding in today’s world, and to make a difference in tomorrow. This course enables students to develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to one another. They also gain an appreciation of scientific methods, as well as practical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
