Physics
Course summary
Physics is the fundamental science. It is essential to an understanding of the world around us, the world beneath our feet and the universe far beyond us. In Physics, we study the universe on every scale – from black holes and supernovae, to the world of quantum mechanics, particle interactions and processes within the nucleus. The key ingredient is a curious, questioning mind. Physicists deploy a mixture of experimental and analytical skills, and creative flair, but there is no norm. Some have a theoretical leaning, others excel as practical or computational investigators. Some are very analytical in their approach to the subject, others more intuitive. The OCR (A) A level Physics course provides a fascinating introduction to advanced level physics, including modern developments in the Standard Model of Particle Physics and Quantum Physics, whilst retaining the essential Newtonian (classical) physics that is the basis of so much around us. A level also brings in more developed, applied physics through the study of Medical Applications of Physics in the Grecians year.
