Assessment

Material is examinable through three examination papers: • Paper 1 – assesses material from the physical and inorganic topics. This is a two hour exam consisting of both long and short answers and contributes 35% of the marks available for the A Level award. • Paper 2 – assesses some of the physical chemistry topics and material from the organic topics. This is also a two hour exam consisting of long and short answers and contributes 35% of the marks available for the A Level award. • Paper 3 – assesses any content from the specification as well as extensive testing of the knowledge and understanding of practical techniques. • Practical skills are also assessed through all exam papers as well as through the separate award of the practical endorsement.
