Course summary
Photography provides students with a wide range of creative, exciting and stimulating opportunities to explore their interests in ways that are both personally relevant and developmental in nature. This subject enables students to develop their ability to actively engage in the processes of Digital Photography – to build creative skills through learning and making, to develop imaginative and intuitive ways of working and develop knowledge and understanding of media, materials and technologies in historical and contemporary contexts, societies and cultures The course entails an introduction to the workings of the camera -investigating aperture, depth of field and composition. The use of light as an element in photography. Digital photography and processing. Viewpoints, composition, colour temperature. Image manipulation. Recording observations, experiences and ideas in visual forms. Analysing and evaluating sources and objects, showing understanding of purposes, meanings and contexts. Developing ideas through sustained investigation, selecting processes, interpreting relationships and analysing methods and outcomes. Presentation of personal, coherent and informed response.
