Course summary
Chemistry is one of the popular subjects at A Level and beyond. It is a varied and exciting subject which uses many skills developed during mainstream GCSE education. Students will need to have an interest and a clear scientific approach and sound analytical skills. It will be assumed for the purpose of teaching that most students undertaking the course will have sound GCSE knowledge in the subject. The Chemistry specification is made up of both Theoretical and Practical sessions. The Modules covered include: Module 1 – Development of practical skills in chemistry Module 2 – Foundations in chemistry Module 3 – Periodic table and energy Module 4 – Core organic chemistry Module 5 – Physical chemistry and transition elements Module 6 – Organic chemistry and analysis
