BTEC National Diploma in Health & Social Care QAN code 60171947/PA1 This course provides a broad Level 3 introduction to the health and social care sector. It is intended to be studied alongside one or two subjects as BTEC or A Level programmes and is equivalent to 2 A Levels. Pupils will study eight units of work: Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development Unit 2: Working in Health and Social Care Unit 4: Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care Unit 5: Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs Unit 7: Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care Unit 8: Promoting Public Health Plus two optional units selected from: Work Experience in Health and Social Care, Sociological Perspectives, Psychological Perspectives, Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs, Physiological disorders depending on numbers and staffing * Please also select Health & Social Care (Single Award) as one of your choices * Future Opportunities - Pupils can progress to complete additional units of work in Year 13 to achieve a bigger level 3 Health and Social Care qualification. They can progress to a wide range of career and higher education opportunities including degree courses in nursing, midwifery, teacher training and social work when taken with compatible subjects. Other progression routes include further training within employment for example apprenticeships and BTEC Higher National qualifications. Further Information - Pupils initially opt for the subject rather than a specific qualification. In Year 13 the programme routes widen to offer different sizes of qualification depending on attainment, achievement and progress in Year 12.
