T.Level in Craft & Design: Textiles & Fashion Maker
Course summary
Our T Level programme is ideal if you are intending to progress directly to employment, or an apprenticeship, within the Craft & Design sectors such as wardrobe assistant, fashion design assistant, dressmaker, tailor, textile designer, interior designer, and many more. This programme requires you to have good communication skills, creative ideation and practical making skills, time management, attention to detail and the ability to collaborate to meet client needs. The core component provides a broad understanding of the creative industry and covers the following: · The creative economy · The individual in the creative industries · Cultural context and vocabulary · Audience · Legislation / regulations · Professionalism and ethics · Equality, diversity, and inclusion · Research skills · Project methodology and administration · Continued professional development The programme specialises in Textiles and Fashion, focused on building your skills and preparing you for your career in the craft and design sector. Industry Placements: Industry placements are facilitated by a network and fashion and textile employers across Blackburn & Darwen, with some further afield. There may be opportunities to further enhance skills at universities across the North West also. You will gain hands-on experience in a wide range of disciplines which could include pattern designing and making, to costume design and fashion shows; these opportunities will give you an insight into how you can utilise your practical skills and knowledge in real-world settings. Employability Skills: Throughout the programme, you will develop a range of employability skills, such as literacy and numeracy, creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and resilience. You will build upon key transferrable technical and practical skills in communication, collaboration (working with colleagues), research and project work; these will provide you with opportunities to demonstrate your reflective learning and ability to identify improvements.
