We would like to invite you, as a prospective student interested in attending our sixth form, with your parents/carers, to our Post 16 open evening on Thursday 7 November 2024 here at Wilmington Academy 4.30pm -7.00pm.

Principal Talks will take place at 5pm and 6pm.

This evening will allow you to explore the opportunities that studying at Wilmington Academy offers you, and we look forward to seeing you here. 

We are proud to offer a range of Level 3 courses which cater to a wide range of interests and career pathways: As an IB World School, we offer the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP), alongside other traditional Level 3 qualifications.  This is a fantastic opportunity for you to study a world-renowned qualification which enables students to develop transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, professional skills, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. We are excited to offer more T Level qualifications in Management & Administration (Business) and Health, Legal Services and Media Broadcast and Production plus Engineering.  T Levels are a great way for students to blend academic theory with “on the job” work experience.

We have also been graded by OFSTED as outstanding

Queen Mary’s High School Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Tuesday 5th November 5-7pm (Headteacher address at 5.30pm and 6.15pm). We look forward to welcoming you to our school. 

We are a warm and caring school which has a sense of family and community at its core. We are proud of our popular and thriving Sixth Form in which students benefit from being part of a close-knit community where all students are valued, and their individual needs are met. Our Sixth Form attracts a diverse range of academically able students who achieve excellent outcomes. Students excel here not only because of our focus on academic excellence but also on personal and social development. Our Sixth Form provision is academic in nature but by encouraging students to aim for the highest standards whilst making significant contributions to the running of the school, the result is adult atmosphere in which freedom and responsibility are evenly balanced. Students can participate in a range of extra-curricular activities to supplement their academic learning whether through clubs and societies, extra-curricular visits and trips, leadership and mentoring schemes. At Queen Mary’s High School there is always an activity for those who want to get involved.     

Applications for entrance in September 2025 open on Friday 25th October 2024 and will close on Friday 24th January 2025. Applicants will be contacted in WC 24th February 2025. 

During this day, you will sample ‘student life’, sample your preferred lessons, meet the staff, live a day in the life of a QEGS Sixth Form student and even sample the Singleton cafe menu! 

This will be a whole day event, finishing at approximately 3.50pm. During the day, you will get a free period to spend in the Sixth Form Common Room and, although you would usually be allowed off-site for lunch as a Sixth Form student, we will need you to stay on-site for lunch on the Taster Day.

There will be no more taster sessions after these dates. However, we will have our open day on the 6th of July for you and any family that would like to attend. 

To ensure a prompt start to our taster sessions, we kindly request you to arrive 15 minutes early. This will allow us to begin the session on time and make the most of our time together. Please plan your travel accordingly.

The dress code will be smart business attire; no trainers will be worn on the day.
