“I guess I could summarize my experience at St Clare’s in two words – positivity and friendliness. It was clearly noticeable from the very first moment I joined St Clare’s that this was indeed an extremely international community. People were of different races, nationalities, having different cultural backgrounds, speaking different languages, and yet everyone was so prepared to welcome this difference and embrace people coming from other parts of the world. My fear of not fitting in disappeared instantly after starting a conversation with a girl nearby. I had a roommate in the first year that came from the other side of the world and despite the slight language difficulties we initially had, the room has always been filled with laughter and love. I made friends almost immediately and they really made me feel a sense of home while studying abroad alone."
Abigail completed her International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2017 with a score of 44 points. She then went on to read History at the University of Oxford. Hear from Abigail on how St Clare's helped her: "Academically, this positivity and friendliness also maintained. I was surprised at how students and teachers could become friends and build up such a close relationship. I was even more surprised at how spectacular these teachers were. Honestly speaking, here at St Clare’s, I have met some of the best teachers I have ever had in my entire life and have been waking up everyday, so ready and looking forward to learning new things. It was no longer just listening to the teacher and taking notes – discussions were common, debates and challenges to an established theory were not rare at all, and we were often encouraged to lead the lesson through presentations. I really felt I was here to learn, instead of simply preparing to score high in the final IB exam. Despite their knowledge, every teacher was very caring and would never skimp on giving the help needed and required by the students, even if that meant spending hours after school. They were always there to speak to. During those two years, there have certainly been disappointments and tears, but in the end, all I am taking away is these happy memories, motivations, knowledge and good friends who have cried, laughed and studied with me. I feel extremely lucky to have chosen St Clare’s for sixth form education, and I am proud and honoured to say that I was a student of St Clare’s.”

"I got a scholarship to come and study here and, it was definitely, I would say, one of the most life-changing moments that I've had so far, both personally and academically. What makes St Clare’s great is certainly the people and I really enjoyed being taught by people who are clearly experts in the subjects that they teach. That combined with all the amazing facilities and resources that the school has to offer and also all the friends that I was sharing all the highs and lows of the IB with, was the perfect combination and one of the best experiences of my life."
After Rea graduated from St Clare’s, she went on to study Molecular Bioengineering with an integrated Master’s of Engineering at Imperial College London. She is currently doing a DPhil (PhD) in Bioengineering at the University of Oxford. From Rea on how St Clare's helped her: "Not only were they (St Clare's) extremely helpful when it came to helping prepare me for university applications, interviews and personal statements like Common App essays and whatever it was but also, always cheering me on and even at the times when I really thought I could not do it, they were always there, always extremely supportive and they actually continue to be supportive to this day, whenever I have a question I will just pop them an email or a message and they still continue to be helpful even now that I'm doing a PhD. "

"I recommended St Clare’s to my sister as well. She was thinking of, you know at the start, it was the choice of to which boarding school should she go and, I always told her come to St Clare’s because it's so open-minded and it's so easy to make friends immediately and become a part of this community, which I don't think is that easy when you move abroad. But here it always kind of happens naturally and that is what she also enjoys. She felt very connected to everyone very fast, and she enjoyed the way that the teachers trust you as well and how you just feel like you're a part of this, of the school."
Hear from Marie-Therese on how St Clare's helped her: "I think what I enjoyed most was the teachers at the end of the day, they were so passionate about their subjects and they were very good at teaching you and making the subjects seem interesting to you."

"It’s really hard to sum up the St Clare's experience in a few words but I would definitely say home, nurturing, challenging and motivating"
After graduating from St Clare's, Sachi went on to read Psychology and Film and Media Studies at Tufts University in Boston. Hear from Sachi on how St Clare's helped her: "St Clare’s introduced me to this beautiful international second home. The teachers were so nurturing and guided me through every step of the way but also let me figure out things for myself. I think I really grew as a person in the two years that I was at St Clare's, I grew confidence, I found a beautiful set of friends, I learned to tackle problems on my own and finding that independence helped me for university and also growing along with other people, so I am very grateful for that."
