Mathematics
Assessment
This course will be examined at the end of the course by three written examinations. Each examination is 2 hours long and use of a calculator is permitted. Papers 1 and 2 are based on topics studied in Pure Mathematics only. Paper 3 is based upon topics studied in Statistics and Mechanics only (50% of the total marks each). The assessment objectives of the course and assessed in each paper place a greater emphasis on modeling, problem-solving and reasoning, so exam questions are likely to be longer with less scaffolding than you may be used to. Throughout the course, you will undertake six formative assessments similar to mock examinations. This will aid you in developing your examination technique and to provide you with the next steps in your learning.
