Course summary

Philosophy is an exciting and challenging course of study involving the analysis of a number of fundamental questions central to human existence and everyday life. It introduces students to a number of philosophical theories put forward by key thinkers, yet also encourages students to develop their own ideas and perspectives. The course gives candidates a thorough grounding in some of the core concepts and methods of Philosophy, enabling students to further develop key academic skills. Students who enjoy thinking, reading, debating, and who are prepared to have their own ideas and assumptions challenged, will be stimulated by this subject. The course is made up of the following units of study: Epistemology: The nature, limits and origins of knowledge Moral Philosophy: Exploring ethical theories about what is right and wrong Metaphysics of God: An analysis of key arguments relating to the existence of God Metaphysics of Mind: Debates surrounding the existence of the metaphysical mind
