Assessment

A broad yet coherent range of topics: 1. The World of The Hero In depth study of Greek and Roman epic, including the oldest surviving works of literature in the Western literary tradition. You will study either Homer’s Iliad or Odyssey and Virgil’s Aeneid. Assessment by written paper which comprises 40% of total A Level. 2. Culture and the Arts: Study one of the following components, which focus on visual/material culture and literature in translation (apart from Greek Art, which is solely focussed on visual/material culture). Greek Theatre Imperial Image Invention of the Barbarian Greek Art Assessment by written paper which comprises 30% of the total A Level. 3. Beliefs and Ideas Study one of the following components, which focus on classical thought, and include both visual/material culture and literature in translation. Greek Religion Love and Relationships Politics of the Late Republic Democracy and the Athenians Assessment is by written paper which comprises 30% of the total A Level.
