Classical Civilisation
Course summary
An A Level in Classical Civilisation gives you the tools to study how a society constructs these concepts, and provides a rich and stimulating selection of material to explore; from plays exploring psychological upheaval to religious monuments, pivotal moments in political history to philosophical discussions of love. No knowledge of Latin or Greek is needed by you, and no familiarity of the Classical world is assumed. You need to have gained a 6 or above in GCSE English Language. If you enjoy subjects like History, English literature, or have an interest in drama and art, Classical Civilisation combines aspects of many of these subjects in one. If you like ancient mythology, gods, heroes, poetry, philosophy or politics, and you would like a subject at A Level which will see you debating and discussing real issues which offer a sound basis for further literary, artistic, historical or cultural study, then Classical Civilisation is for you.
