Assessment

tudents produce a portfolio of 2 projects made up of a multitrack recording and a composition. These form 40% of the overall A level mark. All of the practical work is realised through technology and there is no instrument or vocal performance element in the assessment. The end of year examinations consist of a practical Analysing and Producing paper and a Listening and Analysing paper together forming the remaining 60% of the A level. Popular Music genres from the 1950s to present day are studied together with the history of the technology used to create them. Both of these exams contain questions on sequencing, performance and recording techniques as well as aspects of audio and electronics theory.
