Music Technology
Course summary
The delivery of Music Technology at Hurtwood is unlike anything available in other schools and offers a uniquely creative learning experience that leads to so much more than simply a good qualification. Whilst academic success is fundamental, the Music Department strives to inspire our musicians, songwriters and producers by immersing them in the latest technology and exposing them to professional standards wherever possible. We hold true to our vision of being one of the best equipped departments in the country and look to facilitate creativity at all times. The four purpose built recording studios and the dedicated Audio Suite boast Apple Mac computers running industry standard software including Pro Tools, Logic and Reason. The way music is created, performed and listened to has totally changed over the past few decades and it is vital that today’s musicians marry traditional skills and knowledge with an understanding of how to fully utilise the technology available to them. The department encourages creative excellence and offers numerous opportunities to work alongside industry professionals. This “real world” experience provides a unique creative edge to the academic work undertaken by our students. It is the aim of the department that at the end of their time at Hurtwood, our students will be well placed to pursue further study at University or to take up positions working in the industry. If you love performing or producing music then this is the course for you.
