There are three examination papers: • Paper 1 (37%) covers the development of practical skills, Foundations of Physics, Forces and Motion, Electrons waves and photons, the Newtonian world and Astrophysics. It consists of multiple choice questions and short answer questions involving structured, problem-solving, calculations and practical work. • Paper 2 (37%): Development of practical skills, Foundations of Physics, Electrons waves and photons, Particles and Medical Physics. It consists of multiple choice questions and short answer questions involving structured, problem-solving, calculations and practical work. • Paper 3 (26%): Contains all elements of the course and is synoptic. It consists of short and long answer questions involving structured, problem-solving, calculations and practical work. Practical work is integral to the course and is reported separately. Students are expected to have strong mathematical skills as 40% of the marks available within written examinations will be for the assessment of high-level mathematics.
