Course summary
This qualification is designed for learners aged 16‐19 wanting to gain an understanding of the engineering sector. This could lead to further study in engineering, or learners could proceed into an engineering-related apprenticeship or employment. - Mathematics for engineering - Science for engineering - Principles of mechanical engineering - Principles of electrical and electronic engineering - Computer Aided Design (CAD) - Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Learners will cover six topics, 4 are examined and 2 will be tutor-assessed. All learners have to take units 1, 2, 3 and 4 to enable the learner to demonstrate their understanding of the underpinning mathematical, scientific, mechanical and electrical/electronic principles which form the foundation of engineering. Learners then complete two more units from a range of topics such as, mechanical design, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD and CAM).
